999 Family Fun Day Returns to Port Solent

Emergency services from across Hampshire will gather at Port Solent on Saturday 6th September for a community-focused 999 Family Fun Day, giving visitors the chance to learn more about the people, vehicles and organisations that help keep the region safe.

Families are invited to come along and meet real-life heroes from Hampshire’s fire and rescue, police, ambulance and coastguard services, who will be on hand to showcase some of their vehicles and equipment they use in their day-to-day roles.

The event will also feature the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance helicopter simulator, face painting, charity stalls, appearances from the RNLI mascot and a chance to meet some of Hampshire Fire & Rescue’s specially trained dogs.

Lisa Fowler, Events and Marketing Administrator at Port Solent said: “We’re delighted to once again host our 999 Family Fun Day.

“It’s always a highlight of our summer events calendar, not only is it a great family day out but it’s also a brilliant way to celebrate and thank the amazing people who keep our communities safe every day.”

The 999 Family Fun Day is free to attend on Saturday 6 September, 10am to 4pm, taking place in the first car park at Port Solent.

Pirate Day a Swashbuckling Hit!

We were thrilled to welcome back one of our most popular family events this summer, Pirate Day – and what a fantastic day it was!

So many families enjoyed a full day of free, pirate-themed entertainment, with a packed schedule including a treasure hunt, live music, pirate performers, children’s crafts and a mini market along the waterfront.

Young buccaneers came dressed for the occasion, eagerly taking part in the treasure hunt in search of hidden treats and prizes.

Adding to the atmosphere, our stores and restaurants truly got into the spirit. With exclusive offers and staff donning their best pirate costumes.

Lisa Fowler, Events, Marketing & Centre Administrator at Port Solent, said: “It was fantastic to welcome Pirate Day back to Port Solent and to see so many visitors of all ages getting involved.

“From the costumes to the live entertainment, the day had a real buzz with families enjoying the activities and joining in the swashbuckling fun.”

There’s lots more to enjoy this summer, visit our events page to see what’s coming up at Port Solent.

From superheroes to sci-fi stars, Port Solent welcomed over 15,000 visitors to Comic Con 2025!

On Saturday 14th June, our hugely popular free Comic Con returned to the waterfront drawing an incredible crowd of over 15,000 fans for a day packed with workshops and character appearances. From superheroes to sci-fi, gaming and collectibles, there was something for everyone to enjoy.

The main attraction was our incredible Transformers Takeover, with Bumblebee, Optimus Prime, Barricade and Megatron towering over the crowds and posing for photos.

The Star Wars Cantina immersive experience hosted by Joker Squad and Droid Workshops hosted by Scavenger Props proved a big hit, with visitors enjoying the characters and props.

Visitors also explored the Jurassic Park Zone, met the Ghostbusters alongside their Ecto-1 car and took photos with the Doctor Who TARDIS and Dalek.

Budding Jedi were treated to immersive lightsabre training sessions and gave fans the chance to learn the ways of the Force.

Comic Con wouldn’t be complete without our amazing line-up of stallholders and this year’s selection didn’t disappoint. From collectible toys to handcrafted gifts and delicious cakes, there was a wide range of unique items on offer. Among the highlights was a visit from Andy’s Man Club, the mental health charity working to encourage conversations and support for men across the UK.

Thank you to everyone who came along and made Comic Con 2025 such a success!
