Why We Have Entry Criteria
We wanted to take a moment to explain how the Port Solent Car Meets work and why we have entry criteria.
Our aim has always been to create welcoming, family-friendly car meets that celebrate a huge variety of vehicles.
These events takes place on private land, are fully insured, sponsored, and officially supported by Port Solent Management. Because of this, we have clear admission criteria and event rules that help us run a safe, organised and enjoyable show for everyone
Why we’re strict with vehicle entry
One of the biggest factors is space.
The display area has a limited number of parking spaces, so we have to be consistent and fair when deciding which vehicles enter the show.
Applying the criteria strictly helps ensure that the vehicles the event is designed to showcase are admitted, allowing visitors to enjoy the diverse range of cars, bikes and specialist vehicles that make Port Solent Car Meet what it is.
It’s never about excluding people, it’s about managing a limited display area responsibly so the event can continue to thrive for everyone.
How vehicle entry works
You are welcome to attend with your vehicle if it fits into one of our recognised categories, including:
- Hot Rods
- Classic Vehicles (pre-2000)
- Supercars
- American & Australian vehicles
- Porsches
- Motorcycles & Scooters
- Electric Vehicles
- 400+ BHP vehicles
- Kit Cars
- Emergency Vehicles
- BMW M, Mercedes AMG & Audi RS models
- Tractors
- Classic Industrial & Military vehicles
If you’re unsure whether your vehicle qualifies, or you have something unusual that you’d like us to consider, simply email portsolentcarmeet@outlook.com with your registration and a photo of your vehicle.
How ‘special’ vehicles are chosen
One question we’re often asked is how exceptional or unusual vehicles are selected.
This is not one person’s decision – vehicles that fall outside the standard categories, or are considered for special display, are assessed collectively by a committee of around 25 marshals who regularly attend and help run our events. Every decision is taken seriously to ensure the process is fair and consistent.
As the event takes place on private property, the final decision on vehicle admission rests with the Port Solent Car Meet committee, with the full support of Port Solent Management.
If your vehicle isn’t admitted
Please don’t take it personally if your vehicle is turned away.
There is a free car park immediately adjacent to the event, so you can still park nearby and enjoy the show. The vehicle display area has limited capacity and operates within agreed criteria to keep the event manageable and maintain the standards expected by our venue partner.
Our event rules
To help protect the future of the meet, we ask everyone to respect a few simple rules:
- Drive sensibly and keep noise to a minimum
- Follow marshal directions and park only in allocated bays
- No burnouts, excessive revving or popping
- Respect all marshal decisions – we operate a zero-tolerance policy
- No drones without prior organiser approval and the required CAA Flyer ID and Operator ID
- Keep our Facebook community respectful, abusive behaviour will result in removal from the Port Solent Car Meets group
Our priority is keeping Port Solent Car Meets a place where enthusiasts, families, children and pets can enjoy an incredible variety of vehicles in a safe and welcoming environment.
Thank you to everyone who supports the event, follows the rules and helps make it such a fantastic community.
